Board

Anne-Marie Peterson is chair of the New Door Ventures board. She is an investment analyst at Capital World Investors, focusing on the retail sector. Previously she was a partner at Thomas Weisel and an investment analyst at Montgomery Securities. Anne-Marie has been on the board since January 2005 and previously chaired the Development Committee.

Ted Lucas is vice chair of the board. He joined the board in January 2007 and served as board treasurer in 2007-08. He is a Partner at Lattice Capital Management LLC, a San Francisco-based investment firm. He was previously head of U.S. Strategy at Barclays Bank and a vice-president at Lehman Brothers. He has held Board roles at Chess Venture Partners, Ltd. and Priority Associates, a young professionals ministry in New York City.

Allen Phipps is board treasurer and past chair. He is an independent management consultant whose work experience includes having been executive director of Menlo Park Presbyterian Church, president of SRI Consulting and managing director of The Boston Consulting Group. Allen has served on several for-profit and non-profit boards, including the Boy Scouts and Hawaiian Island Ministries. Allen joined New Door’s board in January 2005 and also serves on the Development Committee.

Karen Skidmore is board secretary and also serves on the Audit Committee. She is senior associate general counsel and also serves vice president and corporate secretary of Franklin Templeton Investments. She has served on various non-profit boards, including Encore/San Francisco Ballet Association, Menlo Park Presbyterian Church, and the American Heart Association. Karen joined New Door’s board in March 2006. Karen holds a J.D. from Fordham Law School and a B.S. from the University of Virginia.

Ken Byk chairs the Audit and Enterprise Committees. He joined the board in 2001 and served as board secretary in 2001-2008. He is a small business owner and former President/CEO of Forensic Analytical Specialties, Inc., a private company serving public health needs.

Spencer Christian joined the board in 2010. He served for 13 years in New York on Good Morning America, and is currently a talk show host and weatherman for ABC Channel 7 in San Francisco. Spencer has also devoted his time to Big Brothers, United Negro College Fund, Special Olympics, and other nonprofits.

Hunt Hanover is an investment professional and vice president at Goldman Sachs in San Francisco. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2001 and is currently enrolled in UPenn’s Wharton School Executive MBA program in San Francisco. Hunt is also involved in the programs of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in San Francisco. He joined the New Door Ventures board in 2009.

Chris Leupold is a Managing Director at Merrill Lynch and heads U.S. Regional Equity Sales and Western Region Global Markets Sales. He holds an economics degree from the University of Oregon and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Chris has also served on the advisory board for All Stars, an innovative New York based non-profit that uses performing arts to reach at-risk-youth. Chris is married to Susie Leupold and has four children. The Leupolds are active members at City Church of San Francisco. He was elected to New Door Ventures’ board in September 2009 and serves on the Development Committee.

Elizabeth McCarty serves on the Development Committee. She is a community volunteer with significant experience serving various non-profits in the San Francisco community including the Maritime Museum, Meals on Wheels and the Operation Sunrise project. She joined the board in April 2006.

Chuck Pappalardo serves on the Development Committee and also leads the board’s HR task force. He is the Managing Director of Trilogy Venture Search, an executive recruitment firm based in Burlingame, California. Chuck is also on the board of Kairos which does outreach to prison inmates. Chuck joined the New Door Ventures board in March 2006.

Will Stegall is Chair of the Development Committee. He works at Farallon Capital Management in San Francisco. Will graduated from Auburn University with a BS in Finance in 1999 and from Stanford University with an MBA in 2006. He recently returned from Malaysia where he worked with Navis Capital. Will joined the New Door Ventures board in February 2009.

Sherilyn Stolz chairs New Door Ventures’ Program Committee. She is Director of Medical Education for Onyx Pharmaceuticals, which develops novel cancer drugs. She previously worked in product management at Genentech where she helped launch the cancer therapy, Herceptin. Sherilyn has been on the board since January 2005.

Martin Triano serves on the board governance task force. He is a senior partner in the A-V rated firm of Triano & Byrne in San Francisco. He has served as a Commissioner in the Alameda County Superior Court and currently serves as a Pro Tem Settlement Judge in the San Francisco County Superior Court. Marty is a member of the Bar Association of San Francisco, where he is the Previous Past President of the Family Law Section. He currently sits on the Harpur College Law Council. He joined the New Door Ventures board in February 2009.

Tess Reynolds has served as the CEO of New Door Ventures since 2003. She has over 20 years of leadership experience in the software industry where she worked as a Business Unit General Manager, Vice President of Marketing, and Management Consultant. Tess has served on the board of directors of several nonprofit organizations, including Parents Helping Parents, Menlo Park Presbyterian Church and the Children’s Hospice and Palliative Care Coalition.
